Profile Information

Relationship Status:
Married
About Me:
I live in St. Louis, Missouri with my partner, Scott, of 15 years, and our two dogs, Marcel and Sophie. I joined CCOR on October 1, 2008 because I am interested in taking an inventory of what I have and identifying what I want. I am looking to eradicate the negative and celebrate, attract, and multiply the good things in life. Scott joined me in our Season One and made a lot of terrific friends as did I. I look forward to the next One Hundred Days!
Season:
Season 2
Starting Date:
January 15, 2008
Intentions & Goals:
List of Intentions - I need to read my list at least once a day; get specific with each intention.
Gratitude, Gratitude, Gratitude - I did not make a list during Season One and regret it; add multiple items to my gratitude list each day for 100 days.
Nurture Relationship - Explore new activities that foster more closeness with Scott (movie nights, cooking together, cultural events, home renovation projects, more music, looking forward, etc.).
Fulfillment and Abundance in My Career - Maximize my skills and education in business; develop product line, website, and marketing plan.
Mental Exercise - Visualizations; read books and watch programs that are inspiring; yoga (for centeredness and relaxed breathing)
Physical Exercise - Walk the dogs, work out, ride bike, tennis, yoga (for strength and flexibility).
Sociability - Develop acquaintances with cool people; reduce public speaking anxiety (concern about performance and expectations).
Finances - Develop plan to meet obligations while intentioning abundance.
Adopt a Child - Don't wait any longer to start a family; find an agency that promotes diversity; get mentally ready for the challenges.

My Gratitude List

My current list can be found here, of all places.

Sent to a 20+ year friend

autumn peeks

there's that moment
when you know
summer's gone

a cold beer pressed
against your forehead
mowing lawn

gives way to
coffee in darkness
a late come dawn

nevermind the sunny days
alas the breeze tells me
summer's truly gone

Getting a Charge Out of Unplugging

I woke up this morning and went through the usual routine at home. As I was driving to work, the radio was announcing the news for the day. Here's what I heard: "mudslides killed hundreds of people," "wheelchair-bound man dies in house fire," "gunman shoots toll booth agent..." I turned the radio off. Not today. I'm a huge proponent of being plugged into the world and not living in a bubble, maybe even a little bit of a junkie for news, especially political. But today I just had to turn it all o… Continue

Living In The Moment

Is there anything better? Does the Universe "love" me? Ha!

Day 47 - Back from New Orleans!

We love New Orleans! I love the seafood and the atmosphere, and Scott loves the history and architecture. It all happened in a blink, but we enjoyed each others' company uninterrupted, except for some text messaging with Scott's friends. But he let's me be clever and I give him ideas of fun messages. We needed a trip away from our lives -- the dogs even -- just to get away. It's been too long! Now I have a week off work. Such an opportunity to plug into me, I guess.

I Saw Defiance Tonight

I saw the movie Defiance finally. What spirit created by terrible circumstances! Belief, beyond belief. I can't say much more at this point. Moving film!

Hey Eric, thanks for the comment on my blog, when I think of the Ego I think of it in more of a Eckhart Tolle Point of View.

The term ego means different things to different people, but when I use it here it means a false self, created by unconscious identification with the mind.
To the ego, the present moment hardly exists. Only past and future are considered important. This total reversal of the truth accounts for the fact that in the ego mode the mind is so dysfunctional. It is always concerned with keeping the past alive, because without it - who are you? It constantly projects itself into the future to ensure its continued survival and to seek some kind of release or fulfillment there. It says: "One day, when this, that, or the other happens, I am going to be okay, happy, at peace." Even when the ego seems to be concerned with the present, it is not the present that it sees: It misperceives it completely because it looks at it through the eyes of the past. Or it reduces the present to a means to an end, an end that always lies in the mind-projected future.

Thank you for making me feel welcome! I'm really excited about this journey and the universe has been giving me signs for a while now, but I've been ignoring them or not fully appreciating them. Being open and expressing my feelings doesnt come easy for me, but the CCOR message has really hit home with me and I'm looking forward to changing my life for the better.
