Hi Heather, I had the same problem in the area of Meditation for a long time. I found that after doing the prractice for a month, the problem diminished. Research has revealed that after doing something for 21 days, the practice will become easier in the days to come. This also works for breaking a bad habit. Its called habit change in 21 days.
Regarding your thoughts and keeping focused. I read a statement the other day that I took stock in and it made me giggle. If you fill your head with good, you leave no room for bad. lol...lol
For me I use a Vision Board. I started a group called THE VISION BOARD PARTY. I made my first vision board a year ago. After starting the group here we have done variations of our boards. We are working on mini boards now, focusing on areas that we think might need more attention. You are welcome to join the group and make a vision board and post it in the discussion there titled POST BOARDS AFTER DEC 1.
These are just a couple of ideas and I know others will chime in and offer more for you.
Blessings JILLY

Hi Again Heather, I was just in another discussion and Trish Vidal another co-creator member reminded me of the Mantras. Mantras are a repeat phrase while in meditation. It helps to clear the mind. I asked Trish to visit this discussion and explain it better. Wow the law of attraction is really spinning around me this morning as I go from discussion to discussion. Hugs JILLY

Hello! I found a website called "the OM Experiment". This website pretty much details how to chant mantras and gives you a bunch of them for different purposes. Mantras, as the website says are energy based sounds that create thought energy waves.

There are different ways to chant. One way is to simply repeat certain words over and over. They don't have to be in sanskrit, you can repeat any phrase that is meaningful to you, such as "I am healthy" while at the same time visualizing what being healthy means to you.

A classic way is to chant a particular phrase 108 times, twice a day, for a minimum of 40 days. If you "forget", you MUST start over. You might be able to find websites that will help you with the pronunciation of the sanskrit mantras or even music clips on iTunes and other places that will show you how to add some music to them to make them more interesting.

I chant in my car on the way to and from work. On the weekends, I have a longer meditation time at home. I always meditate before falling asleep, although I don't chant then. It tends to raise my energy levels and I find that I then have to do something else to calm myself down.

I also meant to say that if you're going to go with chanting a mantra 108 times, it would be a very good idea to purchase some mala beads at your local New Age store. That is quite a number to keep track of and you don't want your chanting/meditation to be all about keeping count. Try to find some that are either in the 27 or 54 bead length. They also come in 108, but I think those are pretty big and conspicuous.

I will say that I have been repeating one mantra for two weeks now, and two mantras for one week (all I can say to that is that I found once I started, that I REALLY got into it and it makes me feel soo good, I want to continue, but for now, I'm capped at 3 - I think - lol).

People I work with have saying that I have this "glow" about me or they ask me if I had some beauty treatment - like a new hair do, or something with my eyebrows. (I haven't) So they are picking up that something it's different and, whatever it is, it's good!

can we use our affirmation as the mantra n chant that 108 times twice a day for 40 days?

Hi, one thing I suggest to people is to start small, eg gaze at a candle for 15 seconds one day, then 20 seconds the next, and just add 10 seconds a day, by the end of the week you will be gazing at a candle for over a minute. That will help with focus and concentration, both helpful when you want to meditate.
Another thing you can play with is to notive youri n breath and out breath, while think. I breathe in, I breathe out. Notice how many you do before your thoughts wander. Let that be just the way it is, no judegment, then next day, notice if you can add one in breath and one outbreath before your mind wanders

OHHHH...I love this candle idea. Thank you so much zzzRose. I'm definately going to try that. I will make sure hubby looks in on me in case I fall asleep, which I've been known to do on occasion. Hugs JILLY

You want to quiet your mind? Easy! Write yourself a letter as though you were in the future writing back into the past describing the wonderful life you are now living!

That takes so much concentration, your mind cannot wander!
